Certified Gerson Home Set-up Trainer Referral Service

Most people need to follow the Gerson therapy for a minimum of two years.  The daily preparation of three meals and up to 13 juices made from approximately 20 pounds of organic vegetables and fruit is very labor intensive.  Making the transition from one’s “normal” life to life on the Gerson Therapy can be daunting, and there is a lot to learn.  Because of the hard work involved, many people doing the Gerson Therapy at home can benefit from the services of a Certified Gerson Home Set-up Trainer (formerly known as a Gerson Caregiver).

The Gerson Institute trains Home Set-up Trainers to be professional, efficient, knowledgeable and competent in all of the non-medical aspects of the Gerson Therapy. These Home Set-up Trainers go through an extensive training process, including successful completion of the Gerson Basics workshop, a week-long internship program, a written test and several interviews. They also experience a modified therapy for themselves so that they can have a direct, personal experience with the Gerson Therapy. Once they are certified, the Home Set-up Trainers are added to the Gerson Institute Approved Referral List (GIARL) as a Certified Gerson Home Set-up Trainer. To maintain this status, Gerson Home Set-up Trainers must participate in continuing education and reporting procedures each year they renew their certification.

What a Certified Gerson Home Set-up Trainer Does:

A Certified Gerson Home Set-up Trainer is fully trained by the Gerson Institute in all of the non-medical aspects of the Gerson Therapy. Their job is to go to a client’s home to help them prepare their home environment for starting the Gerson Therapy. This includes helping and teaching them to prepare the Gerson meals and juices, explaining the coffee enema technique, assisting with healing reactions, and supporting the client in various non-medical ways unique to their situation.

If the client has been to a licensed Gerson treatment center the Home Set-up Trainer helps implement the schedule given by the Gerson doctor. If not, they help the client use the Gerson books to select or design a program suitable for their condition. The Home Set-up Trainer adheres at all times to the guidelines in the books Healing the Gerson Way, A Cancer Therapy: Results of 50 Cases, and the Gerson Therapy Handbook. Please keep in mind that Gerson Home Set-up Trainers are not medical advisors and cannot determine if the client is in a condition to start on the therapy. Please contact Diane Ake at dake@gerson.org first to see if a Gerson Home Set-up Trainer would be suitable for your needs. For inquiries unrelated to Home Set-up Trainers, contact the Gerson Institute's Education Department.

A Gerson Home Set-up Trainer helps to prepare the client’s home environment for doing the Gerson Therapy by:

  • Assisting and teaching client to prepare the Gerson food and juice.
  • Organizing the kitchen and equipment.
  • Providing Gerson-approved resources and information for obtaining safe, pure water in the home.
  • Helping the patient to acquire a proper juicer, and teaching the client how to prepare the juices.
  • Locating sources for organic foods.
  • Preparing shopping lists
  • Making recommendations for establishing a non-toxic environment in the home.

The Gerson Home Set-up Trainer also provides support by:

  • Training a helper that will continue to assist the client after the Home Set-up Trainer has completed their contractual term of service.
  • Helping the client to order the initial medications.
  • Instructing the client and family (or other helpers) on how to administer the B12/crude liver extract injection.
  • Assisting the client in finding information in the Gerson educational materials (books, DVD’s, etc.).
  • Explaining and demonstrating the coffee enema preparation and technique, and the castor oil treatment (if applicable).
  • Educating the client in understanding healing reactions and remedies (by referencing Gerson educational material).
  • Assisting with healing reactions and supporting the client in various other, non-medical ways unique to their situation.

Please note:

  • Gerson Home Set-up Trainers are not medical professionals, so they do not provide medical advice or prescribe the Gerson protocol.
  • Home Set-up Trainers cannot give advice on medications, supplement dosages, or any other conventional or alternative treatments outside of the Gerson Therapy.
  • The Home Set-up Trainer adheres at all times to the guidelines in the books Healing the Gerson Way, A Cancer Therapy: Results of 50 Cases, Gerson Therapy Handbook.
  • Gerson Home Set-up Trainers work exclusively in clients’ homes—they do not give consultations, information, or advice by phone, email, or Skype. If you have questions pertaining to the Gerson Therapy, please contact the Gerson Institute’s Education Department.
  • Some Home Set-up Trainers are willing to travel to a different city or even country and others prefer to work locally.
  • 2-3 weeks is the recommended term for a Gerson Home Set-up Trainer’s services, but this may vary depending on the arrangements made between the Home Set-up Trainer and client.
  • Only the Gerson Institute can provide a referral of a Certified Gerson Home Set-up Trainer. Independent advertisers of these services are not approved nor endorsed by the Gerson Institute.
  • Gerson Home Set-up Trainers are not employees of the Gerson Institute, they are independent contractors, and set their own rates.
  • If you have cancer or another serious illness, we recommend going to a licensed Gerson treatment center where highly trained and experienced Gerson physicians can evaluate your case and prescribe the best protocol to begin.
  • A Gerson Home Set-up Trainer  is not recommended for people who are bedridden or non-ambulatory, on morphine, or have been referred to hospice. A patient must be able to eat, drink and eliminate normally in order to do the Gerson Therapy.
  • The Gerson Therapy should not be administered if the following conditions exist: kidney failure, brain tumors or metastases, fluid retention in chest or abdomen, internal or external bleeding, if the patient is or has been on dialysis, or if the patient has had a stem cell transplant, organ transplant, or pacemaker.
