Team Gerson has grown, and look at us go! A few weeks ago, 22 Gerson employees and volunteers ran the San Diego Resolution Run 5K & 15k, a race that benefits San Diego Roots Sustainable Food Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization working to educate, cultivate and empower local food communities in San Diego County. We jumped at the chance to participate in a race that went towards a local cause that we enthusiastically support!  San Diego Roots does excellent work in the San Diego community, and we host their monthly board meetings at our office.

The race was put on by Sandy Feet Events, a company dedicated to organizing eco-friendly athletic events that support sustainable causes, who were incredibly generous and accommodating to our group. Team Gerson’s coach, our Patient Follow-up Coordinator Amanda Onken, said “the goal of Sandy Feet is to raise money for environmentally aware organizations. These values are in line with the values of the Gerson Institute and we look forward to working with them in the future.” Rachel Hiner, founder of Sandy Feet, joined us for lunch the following week, and wants to volunteer in the Institute’s kitchen.

We assembled such a large team that we got to have a booth at the event to promote the Gerson Institute and the Gerson Therapy. Carol Beard, our Training/Coaching Specialist, volunteered to run the booth. She gave out brochures and copies of our newsletter, Healing News, and spoke to many new people about the Gerson Therapy.

“Everyone finished with a smile on their face and we had fresh carrot juice waiting for us at the end, thanks to the Gerson staff,” said Amanda Onken, Team Gerson’s coach. “The goal of Sandy Feet is to raise money for environmentally aware organizations. The Resolution Run was Team Gerson’s second race, and it certainly won’t be our last. We’d like to expand Team Gerson, and participate in more races and events with worthy causes that are aligned with the Gerson Institute’s message and mission.

If you would like to support Team Gerson’s efforts to spread the word about the Gerson Therapy, consider making a donation of $5 or $15. Just one dollar for each kilometer we run would be a great help.

Here’s the whole team, plus our family, friends and volunteers, squinting in the sunlight.

We had a blast at the race, and Team Gerson even scooped up three spots on the winners podiums! Want to see more pictures of the race? Check out the full photo gallery below.
