Upcoming Changes for the Gerson Institute

BG at desk

The Gerson Institute came from humble beginnings in San Diego, CA, with only Charlotte Gerson and a telephone. In the 30+ years since its founding, the Gerson Institute has grown into an organization with a far-reaching global presence. Each year, the Gerson Institute’s Education Team answers thousands of phone calls and emails, assists hundreds of patients attending the licensed clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, schedules numerous walk-in appointments, and hosts several trainings.

With this growth, we have determined that it is necessary to transition away from our one-on-one telephone helpline service towards a model of virtual communication that will allow our small staff to make a deeper impact on the public worldwide, better serving the Gerson community as a whole. Although this has been a vital source for many, the Gerson Institute’s free telephone helpline will be discontinued beginning June 1st, 2016.

How can I connect with the Gerson Institute?

Despite the closure of this telephone helpline, connecting with us has never been easier — check our ever-growing website for daily, updated information and resources; check in with the Gerson Institute’s Facebook page; join us for online and in-person trainings; or send us an email. No need to worry about rearranging your schedule to call during our phone hours. Through these channels, you can contact us when it’s most convenient for you and expect a thoughtful, comprehensive response within 2-3 business days.

We have provided the best and most updated information in response to your questions by phone, but we feel our staff can optimize our reply by looking deeper. Sometimes staff may have an instant, easy reply, while other questions may require research, inquiry with Certified Gerson practitioners or other sources of information to provide you the most useful information possible.

Once this transition goes into effect our email response times will decrease from 5-7 business days to 2-3 business days. We will continue providing thorough and clear responses to your inquiries, but we will be improving our response time from the current 5-7 business days down to 2-3 business days.

Will the Gerson Institute still assist me if I’m applying to the Gerson licensed clinic in Mexico?

Absolutely. Prospective patients who submit an application to be considered for treatment at the licensed clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, will still be able to reach their assigned Education Specialist directly by phone. Furthermore, your assigned Education Specialist will be able to spend more time assisting you through the application process and serve as a support system after you leave the clinic for help with general questions on food preparation, coffee enemas, juicing, connecting with other Gerson patients, and much more.

How does this change benefit me?

The Gerson Institute has always been dedicated to patient empowerment through knowledge and education, and we anticipate that with the discontinuation of the telephone helpline, we will have the time and space to enhance our current educational materials, create new ones, and develop virtual support communities. Additionally, we are excited to take this opportunity to improve our website with resources that will give current and prospective patients the chance to educate themselves regarding their diagnosis and the Gerson Therapy, in order to make an informed decision.

We have a number of projects already in the works, including educational videos on frequently asked questions like “Is the Gerson Therapy Right for Me?”; documents outlining helpful Gerson tips such as fundraising ideas for patients; and creating free materials including introductory guides for those new to the Gerson Therapy.

This is just a peek into what we have in store for our Gerson community. Be sure to join us on Facebook and sign up for our email list to get regular updates on what the Gerson Institute is working on.

We thank you for your continued support, and we appreciate your patience while we move forward with this major evolutionary shift toward our future.
