With heavy hearts we With heavy hearts we are mourning the loss of our long-time Executive Director and beloved friend Anita Wilson, who passed away overnight on Thursday, December 8, 2022.

We are deeply saddened by this great loss and have been grieving as we informed her close friends and colleagues in the Gerson community.

Anita was not just our leader as Executive Director for nearly twenty years, but she was a mentor and dear friend who was like family. Most of the staff have been with the Institute for 10+ years and have shared many life milestones with Anita, who was always there to encourage and uplift us through the ups and downs. We will miss her bright light, wit, humor, compassion and big heart.

Anita’s impact stretched across the globe and into the hearts and souls of anyone she encountered. Knowing her was like knowing a wise shaman who is connected to the earth and the stars, to the past, present and future all at once. 

The Gerson Institute is in communication with Anita’s family regarding plans to honor and celebrate her life. In the meantime, cards can be sent to the Gerson Institute at the below address, and we will forward on to her family.

We are thankful for Anita’s long-term dedication to the Gerson Institute, which remains in good hands with a strong governing Board of Directors and dedicated team of tenured staff, management and faculty.

There is solace is knowing that Anita is now among the stars, continuing to shine her bright light on the world.
