Another year has gone by and we are in deep reflection about the incredible year we had, what we have in store for 2019 and how grateful we are to all of you, our supportive community, that makes it all possible.
Before we officially ring in the new year tonight, join us in counting down some of our favorite moments of 2018.
1. San Diego Central Library Local Author Showcase | January 2018
The Gerson Therapy Cookbook was selected as part of the San Diego Central Library Local Author Showcase. The Gerson team celebrated with 300 local San Diego authors who published in the last year.
2. Charlotte’s 96th Birthday | March 2018
Charlotte Gerson celebrated her 96th birthday on March 27, 2018. The Gerson Institute received an outpouring of well wishes for Charlotte, which we sent to her in Italy along with a beautiful flower arrangement, a comfortable house jacket, an olive tree plant for her living room and a SoloBee House in her honor at the Wild Willow Farm Charlotte Gerson Legacy Orchard.

3. Future Thought Leaders Panel | May 2018
Gerson Institute Executive Director Anita Wilson is an expert panelist for the Berry Good Food Foundation‘s Future Thought Leaders. In collaboration with the UCSD Center for Integrative Nutrition, the panel discussed the rise in using alternative medicine to treat chronic disease.
4. Fifteen Year Anniversary | May 2018
Anita Wilson celebrates fifteen years as the Gerson Institute’s Executive Director. A surprise luncheon with close friends is held in her honor, where Anita is also presented with a plaque commemorating her work.

5. The Food Cure World Premiere | June 2018
The Food Cure documentary world premiere kicks off in San Diego, California to a packed theatre. Director Sarah Mabrouk and her team then embark on a tour of North America with Q&A panels featuring the film’s protagonists and experts from various fields surrounding food as medicine.

6. New Office Location | July 2018
The Gerson Institute’s headquarter office in San Diego finds a new location in the Kearny Mesa area. Surviving patient Lisa Mendoza is the first visitor!

7. Burbank Film Festival | September 2018
Gerson staff members head to the Burbank Film Festival to support The Forbidden Cure, a short film based on the life of Dr. Max Gerson. The film was selected as a semi-finalist.
8. Gerson Health Centre Team Visit | September 2018
Dr. Melania Nagy and part of her team from the Gerson Health Centre (Europe’s first and only licensed Gerson clinic) visit San Diego and present the Gerson Institute with a portrait of Dr. Max Gerson, hand-made by a Hungarian artist.

9. Celebration of Life | September 2018
Gerson Institute sponsors CHIPSA Hospital Celebration of Life and Scientific Forum event. At least twenty surviving Gerson patients are honored, gathering with scientists and leaders in both conventional and alternative medicine for talks and forums. The scientific symposium culminated in a gala where the surviving patients were honored with plaques and special musical performances.

10. Local Events | October – November 2018
Gerson Institute staff attend local San Diego events including WASTED: A Celebration of Sustainable Food hosted by Kitchens For Good and Chef Works; Berry Good Noche hosted by Berry Good Food Foundation; and the 2018 Food Tank Summit, San Diego, hosted by Food Tank, Berry Good Food Foundation and UCSD.
We thank the entire Gerson community far and wide, whether you are working directly with patients, informing your local community about the power of food as medicine, an organization working towards healthier food and healthier communities, heroically undergoing the Gerson Therapy, or working behind the scenes, what we accomplish, we accomplish together.
